there are days when i'm motivated and content and ready for new opportunities, but there are also times where i'm tired and i've fallen back into the routine and mundanity of life, just living day by day. i have no idea how to get out of this cycle, but during those down days i tend to isolate myself because social interaction drains too much energy out of me, and i like to be alone, which is why i've been gone for a while. but this time because of reading, i'm somehow slowly trying to find myself again. the book i just started reading is called "power" by naomi alderman. it's about how females suddenly have a mutation that allows them to control electricity and energy, and the reversal of power dymamics between the 2 sexes. a really interesting read, and i'm wondering how this will affect the transgender community, hopefully the author will address this in the book? 🤔

finally went to the library and picked up "the magic strings of frankie presto" by mitch albom so i could finish reading it! a beautiful story

Stop yourself from self-criticism.

i was beating myself up for being unproductive today but i stopped myself and decided to watch netflix anyway, which was a good distraction from my own mind. i need to remind myself that i require breaks sometimes and just because i have different studying habits than other people doesn't mean it's bad. i got that rest and now i'm ready to study tomorrow :-)

i woke up at 1:30pm today, which was such a shock! but i guess i got the sleep i needed, which was good. i also started watching friends, and binge watched the entire first season of the good place and i loved it 😌

Improve your communication with a different language.

downloaded an app called "du chinese" which helps you improve your chinese! which is great because my ability to read and speak mandarin has deteriorated by a lot ever since chinese lessons stopped. i never enjoyed learning chinese, but i realised it was because of the pressure of examinations and the need to attain a good grade that put me off, especially since my results were never that great to begin with as compared to others. i've found out that i still want to study it, and i don't want to lose my culture simply because i need to put in more effort than others to ensure that i can converse fluently in it.

i have so many opposing views with my father regarding university choices and i feel like i'm just going to spend the next 12 years of my life feeling out of control, just blindly following what he wants. i want to go to the UK to study, but he demands for me to go to US. i don't want a scholarship bond that isn't aligned with what i want to work as in the future, he just wants me to be able to go to a brand name university. i wanted to go overseas to escape from people, to start afresh, to learn to be independent, to make my own decisions, to finally be free from others' influence, so i can be who i am myself, and to grow at my own comfortable pace, but it seems like even when i'm overseas i'm still at the service of others. i know i should be grateful that i'm even given the opportunity of going overseas to study in the first place, but it just seems like my life isn't my own and i'm always being controlled by others no matter what.

spent the entire day with my team. honestly it was a waste of our time as we didn't even make it pass the preliminary round, yet we had to stay the entire day till 7pm just to hear speeches and panel discussions on industries we weren't interested in, observe the competition and collect our certificates. we managed to snuck away for about an hour to eat and chill but other than that it was really boring and it was such a hard time trying to keep myself awake without any form of entertainment. kind of jealous of those that are born capable or a genius, but life is unfair and random anyway 🤷🏻‍♀ here is a picture of the mala we ordered in the food court while we snuck out of the auditorium 😂

completed the first draft of my personal statement and the case study report for an economics and finance management competition. these days i've been too tired to complete my homework after school, and instead have been rushing them in the morning before school starts. i hope this torturous period will end soon, i'm exhausted 😴 i just wish to focus on studying now but there are other commitments as well, such as applying to universities and scholarships which i have little clue about and require hours of research to understand. i have no idea which universities i should choose! other than filtering out those which do not have high rankings for the course i'm intending to apply for, psychology, i'm pretty much clueless. everything else is pretty much similar between the univerisities 🤔

spent the entire day at a university with classmates that i'm not very close to, trying to complete the challenge running around like mad kids 😂 even though we're not extremely close, it was such fun working with people who have the same interests and passions as i do, and working towards the same goal creates shared memories that help to bond us together :-) forever grateful for the company, the people around me, and the opportunities i have

Wake up early and do something productive.

woke up at 7:30am to attend a economics and finance competition :-) it was such fun, just a bunch of kids from so many different schools running around the campus so excited and passionate to learn more about the same subject. the energy was high and not at all competitive! props to the university for ensuring everyone enjoyed their time there and for the huge stash of snacks in the goody bags 🤗🤗 we completed part of a quiz and an amazing race event today, but we still have to submit a case study report in 3 days time and complete the last part of the quiz next saturday, before the results for the preliminary round are announced. i don't have high hopes of us winning anything but still it was such a great experience! thankful
